Directions:
From St. Louis, at the junction of I-40 and 270, take I-270 north to Bellefontaine Road, turn
north. Follow road and after passing the fire station (just past Parker Road), make a right
turn onto Spanish Pond Road. Follow Spanish Pond Road to the park entrance on the right.
There are 3 entrances. Trailhead parking for
horseback riders is at the third entrance.
This is an urban trail with heavy traffic on the
streets leading to the park.

2.6 mile loop around lake.

Trail Notes:
The trail that is open to equestrians is the trail
around Sunfish Lake. It's not a long trail, but is pretty and scenic. It goes through forest,
fields and even a small prairie. It's slightly hilly, but nothing strenuous. The trail corridor is
easy to follow with a few downed trees to negotiate, but nothing too hazardous. This urban
trail has a lot of houses around, as well as, a lot of people in the park.

Drinking water: None available
Water for the horses: Yes, the lake, or water available at the other part of the park,
but horses aren't allowed there.
Other Facilities:
Restrooms, picnic shelters, boat ramps, fishing dock, and a playground for the kids.

Hiking, fishing, boating, picnicking, soccer, tennis, wildlife study & photography.
