Directions:
From St. Louis, at the junction of I-40 and 270, take I-270 north to Bellefontaine Road, turn
west. Follow to the entrance of the park. There is a guard gate where visitors must sign in
before proceeding into the park. After passing the gate, follow the road to the first drive on
the left, that leads to the trailhead parking lot,
which is on the left.

Trail Notes:
This trail goes through fields and some
woods. It is flat to gently rolling and has very
few hazards to be aware of, other than maybe some occasional dowfall to negotiate. The
fields are being allowed to go back to prairie status and can become high and overgrown.
There are some different things to enjoy along the way including a couple different ruins, the
grand staircase, and a couple of informational signs to read. The area is on a bluff over the
river so you could run into snakes here, including rattlesnakes, but more likely a copperhead.
