Directions:
There are several trailheads to this section, and many of them are large enough for trailers.
Sam A. Baker State Park Trailhead:  The official OT trailhead is just south of
Campground 1, but is too small for trailers.  Equestrian parking is at the Sam A. Baker State
Park day use area or equestrian campground.  See Mudlick Trail for those directions.
Highway 34 Trailhead:  From Fredericktown, take Hwy 67 south 26.5 miles to Hwy 34.
Turn west on Hwy 34 and go 2.8 miles to trailhead on the left.
Highway FF Trailhead:   From Poplar Bluff , take Hwy 67 north 27.7 miles to Hwy FF
west, just before the large bridge over the Wappapello River .  Follow FF 3.3 miles to
FR29, turn right and follow to TH parking on the left just before the road dead-ends at the
boat launch parking.  This road is subject to flooding if the river level is high.
Highway 67 Trailhead:  From Poplar Bluff , take Hwy 67 north 26.5 miles to trailhead on
right.
Highway F Trailhead:  From Poplar Bluff , take Hwy 67 north 23.9 miles to Highway F,
turn east.  Follow Hwy F 1.1 miles to trailhead on right.
Highway 172 Trailhead:  From Poplar Bluff , take Hwy 67 north 15.8 miles to Highway
172, turn east.  Follow Hwy 172 1.5 miles to trailhead on left

Equestrian Camping:
Yes, at Sam A. Baker State Park (closed December through February), at the Hwy FF TH
on USACE land, at Hwy F and Hwy 172 trailheads on USFS land, and primitive dispersed
camping allowed along the trail on USFS land but prohibited on USACE land.  The Hwy FF
TH doesn’t have a good area for setting up a tent, so is best used by people with living-
quarters trailers or with a tent that sets up in the bed of your truck

Trail Notes:
There are just enough hills to climb, deadfall and creeks to negotiate, to make this a fun trail.
The only hazard to really be aware of is road crossings.  This trail is, however, prone to
flooding so before using the trail, please call the Wappapello Lake Project Office at 573-
222-8562 or toll free at 1-877-LAKE-INFO to check flooding status.  The USACE has re-
routed some of the trail to avoid the worst of the areas that flooded.  Many additional miles
of riding are available from this trail.  In addition to the 12 mile long Mudlick Trail at Sam A.
Baker at the northern end, there are two 5 mile long connectors to the 15 mile long Lake
Wappapello State Park Trail.  The Lake Wappapello State Park Trail also connects to
University Forest Trail, which has a 19 mile trail and 14.5 miles of gravel road riding.

Cart/Wagon Driving:
Not feasible.  Trail is too narrow and rugged for cart or wagon driving.
