Directions:
From Van Buren, take Hwy 60 west for 3.5 miles. The trailhead is 0.1 mile past the
Mark Twain sign on the left. The exit trailhead is located by traveling 8.6 miles south
of Freemont on Hwy J to Forest Road 3152. Turn west on Forest Road 3152 and
drive 0.9 miles to the lookout tower.

Yes, primitive dispersed camping allowed.
Trail Notes:
This trail has steep, rocky hills with high drop-offs and streams you do not want to
cross during high water. Since this portion of the trail is seldom used, be prepared
to take care of yourself and be aware of the time and daylight. In the summer time,
be on the lookout for rattlesnakes, copperheads, yellow jackets, ticks and poison
ivy. The trail can get quite overgrown later in the season.
Cart/Wagon Driving:
Not feasible. Trail is too narrow and rugged for cart or wagon driving.
Water Available:
Drinking Water: None available.
Water for horses: Creeks and streams, but can be limited in dry weather.
Other Facilities:
Outhouse, but no other facilities available.
Other Activities:
Hiking, camping, backpacking, mountain biking and hunting.
