Each season presents slightly different circumstances that you might want to prepare for,
especially when riding on longer or more remote trails. Since Fall riding season is upon us now, I thought I'd
list a few tips to help make your trail riding and camping experiences more safe and comfortable.
The most obvious change as summer gives way to fall, is of course, the weather. Temperatures can vary
greatly not only from day to day, but from morning to night. The day-time highs can still reach into the high
80’s, while the nights can cool down to below 60 degrees. Because of this, if you’re spending long hours in
the saddle, the mornings can be chilly, the afternoons hot, and the evenings chilly again. When dressing for
trail riding in these ever changing temperatures, it’s best to dress in layers so you can add or remove clothing
as needed to keep you comfortable. Along with the temperature changes, rainfall amounts change too.

Mudlick Trail Sam A. Baker State Park Located in Wayne County, this trail is absolutely beautiful, extremely rocky and one of the most physically challenging trail I've ridden here in Missouri. A good trail to ride during hunting season, it's a favorite of both Lalita and I.

With Christmas coming up in less than two months now, we thought we'd list a review that someone
might consider to go under the Christmas tree.
The only place I’ve found that carry these products is Horse.com (formerly Country Supply). The
material used in both the girth and the pad is polyurethane-coated foam. There are ‘beads’ of this
material that are bonded together in a waffle-weave sort of pattern, allowing the air to circulate through
the pad or girth. This air circulation allows your horse’s back and girth area to stay drier, with no galling.
I do recommend a light blanket on top of the pad, simply because otherwise the sweat off your horse’s
back may get in the fleece or felt lining of your saddle. The pad comes with wear ‘leathers’ (really
plastic) bound to the pad with nylon and the girth is bound in nylon with plated steel hardware. The
girth also has billet pockets on both ends. Clean-up of these products is a breeze. More......
